Region 6 Homeland Security Grant Program Law Enforcement Committee

The Region 6 Homeland Security Planning Board’s Law Enforcement Committee seeks to provide law enforcement communities with enhanced capabilities for detecting, deterring, disrupting, and preventing acts of terrorism and assisting law enforcement agencies with new equipment, training, and other enhancements.

The Homeland Security Grant Program provides financial assistance to assist jurisdictions in accomplishing Homeland Security objectives.  In fact, approximately 25 percent of the overall grant total must be spent on law enforcement objectives.  To assist with that endeavor, the Law Enforcement Committee was created to accomplish Law Enforcement Terrorism Prevention Program (LETPP) or (LETPA) objectives.

Projects spearheaded by the Law Enforcement Committee include “Project IGNITE” (an information sharing enhancement), enhancements to communication interoperability, and bomb mitigation.  The Committee will also continue expanding and facilitating the sharing of criminal intelligence, crime analysis, and investigative information between law enforcement agencies and other enhancements to assist the Region 6 Law Enforcement Agencies to do the best job they can.
